Welcome — I’m Sara Spence, a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of experience in mental health, first as a psychiatric nurse and now as a provider. I founded The Serene Sanctuary to create something different: a women-owned telepsychiatry practice designed specifically for women who look like they’re doing just fine — but feel anything but.

At The Serene Sanctuary, I offer private-pay, virtual psychiatric care across Indiana — including Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville, Westfield, and Kokomo. I specialize in personalized mental health support for women who are done holding it all together alone.

My approach goes beyond quick fixes. You’ll get thoughtful medication management paired with lifestyle-focused care — sleep, nutrition, mindfulness, supplements, emotional regulation — all tailored to you. And because I don’t work with insurance, we don’t have to rush, cut corners, or check boxes that don’t apply.

I bring over a decade of experience as a psychiatric nurse and board-certified PMHNP—but also the insight of a woman who understands the pressure to be “fine” when you’re anything but.

    We’ll do a thorough psychiatric assessment and build a personalized plan together—this may include medication management, therapy strategies, lifestyle guidance, and (optional) advanced lab panels and pharmacy-grade supplement recommendations when appropriate.

    Prescriptions and labs are sent directly; your results and notes live in your secure portal.

About our Services

Private Pay Only

The Serene Sanctuary is a private-pay practice. We intentionally choose not to accept insurance so we can spend more time with each client, offer truly personalized care, and stay free from the limitations insurance often places on treatment. You’ll never feel rushed or boxed in here—your care is designed for you, not dictated by billing codes.

Superbills are available if you’d like to seek out-of-network reimbursement.

Client Age Spectrum

We work exclusively with adults, ages 18 to 65, because our virtual care model is best suited for the unique needs of this population. This focused approach allows us to provide high-quality, specialized support for women navigating the pressures of adult life, whether that includes career demands, parenting, caregiving, or all of the above.

No Benzodiazepines Policy

We do not prescribe benzodiazepines (such as Xanax, Klonopin, Ativan, or Valium). This is a thoughtful decision based on both safety and long-term wellness. These medications can be habit-forming, and telehealth alone isn’t the right setting for managing them responsibly.

Instead, we’ll work together to explore safer, sustainable options that support your mental health with clarity and care.
